About Lois
Lois Wattis is a Registered Midwife, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and Fellow of the Australian College of Midwives. Working in both hospital and community settings, Lois has enhanced her midwifery skills and expertise by providing women-centred care to thousands of mothers and babies, including more than 50 women who chose to give birth at home while she was practising as a Community Midwife (IPM)
Lois is eminently qualified to offer advice and support to new parents via her New Baby 101 resources. Lois is the author of numerous articles and professional guidelines which have been published in parenting magazines and midwifery journals in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. All advice provided in New Baby 101 is based on reliable evidence and research, and Lois’s common-sense approach will both inform and reassure parents as they gain new skills and confidence during the first few months of baby’s life.
Lois’ passionate approach to birth and breastfeeding nurtures women’s inborn mothering instincts, supporting and enabling them to make informed choices.
Most recently Lois worked in a dedicated Lactation Consultant role in an acute hospital setting for 14 years, gaining broad experience in neonatal, paediatric, antenatal and postnatal maternity environments, caring of mothers and babies.
Now semi retired, Lois continues to provide Lactation Consultant services in private practice, and also conducts a weekly clinic for the assessment and treatment of infant tongue ties on the Sunshine Coast, Qld.
